A comfortable and functional basement is an important component of a cosy home.

It is hard to imagine a modern house without a basement, or even without a system of numerous, multi-level cellars. "Why so many?" - exclaims a person who has only become accustomed to storing useless junk in his basement. But he is unaware of the limitless benefits a basement can bring to its owner. So why would you need a basement in your house? What features does it have and how useful could it be?

Some of the the functions of a basement, and its advantages and benefits include:

  • A cellar for food or wine could be constructed in the basement. This cellar could be multi-level: the lower the level, the lower the temperature. If the cellar is constructed on a single level, you may have to opt out of heating the basement, which would be good in terms of food storage, but with time, may eventually have negative effects on the foundations of the building.
  • You can arrange a room adapted for technical purposes.
  • A basement can serve as a living space or be used as a storeroom.
  • The basement space can also be used as a warehouse, workshop or studio.
  • And, of course, a spacious garage can be created in the basement for the storage of family cars.

The construction of a basement is worth its cost not only for the owners of small plots of land, but also for the owners of an inherited family home.
